Today the best trips aren’t inspired by commercial photography and contrived ad campaigns. In fact, studies have shown that 72% of travel is actually inspired by what our friends are sharing in social media. Destination Canada embraced this and encouraged Americans to visit Canada through sharing the amazing stories that are written in Canada everyday. Using real instagram posts as frames of film and hashtags that Canadians regularly use for the scripts, a series of social films showed a more diverse version of our country than what Americans had seen before. The campaign resulted in over 30 million youtube views and helped to bring a million more visitors over the border than the previous year.
